My summer vacation☆

I start to write diary from today. In July 28th, I went to hair salon to change my hair color. I like my new hair style and it was cheap, but the hair salon’s service is not good. I don’t like my hair dresser, so I think I’ll never go to the hair salon. After that, I met my high school friend in Sakae. We went to McDonald’s and talked many things. We met three friends and went to nice bar. Food is very delicious and I had plenty. I drank only two glasses of cocktail because I was sick when I joined in the drinking party of class. We celebrated two friends’ birthday. The waitress made birthday cake and we sang birthday song for our friends. We had a great time.

July 30th, I went to Disney on Ice in Nihon Gaishi hall with my friends. It was convenient to go there because my house is near it. There were many children. I want Disney goods, but they were so expensive. The cap is 2,300 yen and the Mickey’s balloon is 1,200 yen. The show was about 2 hours and it was fantastic! There were real Mickey and Minnie, of course and many Disney characters. They were very cute. I felt that we were in Disney land. We enjoyed the show very much. I’m going to Tokyo Disney Sea next week, so I’m looking forward to it.

Tomatina

I’m going to talk about activity of Tomatina.

Tomatina begins with the eve of the festival. People gather in a square of San Luis Street and enjoy many street stalls and simple amusement park for children. There is no tomato but they drink, eat, sing, and dance.

A city hall official gives bread to some people for free, so participants wake up early and go to Pueblo Square to get them. The neighbors begin to pour water over their heads from the windows.

Participants compete to climb a stick. There is a raw ham in the top and they try to get it. A lot of challengers climb at the same time. A hero who gets a raw ham is welcomed with applause. This is the point of the event because they cannot begin to throw tomatoes until someone win the event.

People want tomatoes and shout “Tomato! Tomato!” About 120t tomatoes are carried by five trucks. They are so excited, wait for tomatoes singing and shouting. They begin to throw tomatoes all at once. Not only people but also streets and buildings are dyed in red in a moment. After an hour, they finished throwing tomatoes and wash away tomatoes. They take a shower using temporary showers.

There are some rules of Tomatina.
1. don’t bring dangerous articles like bottles
2. don’t tear T-Shirt
3. smash tomatoes before throw them
4. watch out for the trucksdon’t throw tomatoes after a sign of the end

★Oktoberfest in Germany★

I introduce Oktoberfest in Germany. It is the largest beer festival in the world and 6 million people all over the world join in this festival. It is a traditional festival in Munich which has been held since 1810.

There are 14 big tents and 16 small tents. The big tents contains about 6,000~7,000 seats. The tents are filled with people every year. All people sing and dance drinking beer. They scream “Prost!” with music. “Prost” means “cheers”.

Special Oktoberfest beer is made for the festival. Only Munich beer breweries can make beer in the festival. Six makers are Augustiner, Hofbrau, Lowenbrau, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, and Spaten. The beer is sweeter than normal beer and it contains about 6 percent alcohol. People eat roast chickens, big pretzels, and cheese which called “Obatzda”. The cheese is mixed with camembert cheese and cream cheese. There are many street stalls selling sausages and sweets.

Participants wear the Bayern’s folk costumes like Japanese yukata. Woman wears a checked or striped dress, or a flower print dress. Man wears leather knee pants.

There is Oktoberfest parade and 8,000 people join in the parade. The groups wear their own folk costumes by region in Germany. We can enjoy comparing various costumes. A brass band performs and the other group dances their traditional dances. Other countries, such as Switzerland, Italy, and Austria also join in the parade.

Why don’t you join in the festival when you become an adult and go to Germany?
